Sage and Thyme Counselling, led by Sarah, offers a holistic and trauma-informed approach that honours both the mind and the body. Sessions are available online and face-to-face, supporting individuals seeking clarity, emotional growth, and a deeper sense of ease.

 

With a Master’s in Counselling, four years of academic and research training in psychology, and qualifications in Reiki and energy healing, Sarah offers counselling and energy healing as individual modalities, or as an integrated approach for those who feel drawn to both. Each pathway is tailored to your needs, preferences, and readiness.

 

While counselling supports insight, meaning-making, and emotional processing, energy healing works gently with the nervous system and the body’s innate capacity to settle and restore. When combined, these approaches can create a deeply supportive space for self-connection, regulation, and subtle yet meaningful transformation—always guided by your pace and choice.

 

At Sage and Thyme Counselling, you are welcomed into a calm and nurturing space grounded in compassion and respect for your innate wisdom. Healing is approached as a remembering—an unfolding of what already exists within you—supporting self-trust, resilience, and meaningful change in a way that feels safe and honouring.

About Me

Hi, my name is Sarah Evans

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling and a Bachelor’s Honours degree in Psychological Science, and I am an accredited member of the Australian Counselling Association.

​

Originally from Sydney, my journey brought me to Tropical North Queensland in an adventurous way—working as a dive instructor among the coral reefs of the Coral Sea. Alongside my roles as a sister, daughter, and mother, numerous experiences have shaped my understanding of resilience, adaptation, and the multifaceted aspects of being human. Like many, I have navigated challenging seasons in life, which continues to inform the empathy and grounded presence I bring to my work.

At the heart of my practice is a strong belief in connection, compassion, and meeting people where they are. I work with curiosity, openness, patience, and presence, supporting clients in a way that honours their lived experience and inner capacity for growth.

My academic and professional background includes extensive training in behavioural and cognitive psychology, alongside practical experience as a Behaviour Practitioner and Counsellor. This foundation led me to deepen my understanding of nervous system regulation, drawing on somatic and polyvagal-informed approaches to support individuals experiencing stress, overwhelm, trauma, and emotional dysregulation.

Alongside counselling, I have studied Reiki and energy healing for over four years. I offer Reiki as a standalone service or alongside counselling, including distance Reiki sessions. Many people seek Reiki to support relaxation, pain and fatigue management, emotional wellbeing, and overall balance. Emerging clinical and statistical research suggests Reiki may offer benefits for stress reduction, nervous system regulation, and mental health support, particularly when used as a complementary practice.

 

I bring over five years of experience working with women, men, and young people, with specialised skills in domestic and family violence, person-centred counselling, wellbeing promotion, addiction support, attachment and relational needs, parenting support, grief, Reiki, and mentoring. All services are offered with care, choice, and respect for each individual’s unique needs and readiness.

You, Me and the Counselling Process

Counselling with me is a collaborative journey, guided by your needs, your pace, and your goals. Some people come with a specific challenge or situation they want support with, while others are looking to explore bigger life questions—developing skills, building resilience, or connecting more deeply with themselves.

Together, we can work on a range of areas, including:

  • Navigating life transitions and stressful moments

  • Healing from past trauma or grief

  • Strengthening self-compassion, self-care, and motivation

  • Building coping strategies and emotional intelligence

  • Exploring identity, relationships, and personal growth

  • Managing addictions or challenging patterns

  • Learning to be fully present and enjoy the moment

Counselling isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some people find that a few sessions give them the clarity and support they need to move forward, while others benefit from ongoing sessions during periods of stress, transition, or deeper healing.

Book for a 30 min solution focused session. Sometimes all you need is to talk through a problem with goal guidance.
